This short story on “ the sidewalk bleeding” was written by Evan hunter. The narrator talks about a 16 year old boy that wore a bright purple jacket and across the top it said “royal”. Andy was stabbed and left on the sidewalk but everyone saw him as his gang “royal” and not him as a person “andy”. One memorable idea in this text is that no one should be seen differently even though they're affiliated with a gang, they should be known as who they are from the inside. This idea was memorable because people are getting judged or seen differently when it comes to gangs as gangs are seen as not the best but whatsoever you never go judging people on what you see or hear.
A memorable idea is that we should focus on our life and others because you don't know what people go through behind closed doors. In the text there is a drunk man walking through the alley. He was an old man. He saw Andy and asked him “What's the matter buddy,” while the drunk man was asking, Andy could not speak or move at all. He slightly lifted up his head and Andy smelled an odor of alcohol. He then smiled `Did you fall down buddy?” he questioned as if he knew what's happening to Andy. While he finished asking his question he said “You must be as drunk as I am”. He squatted next to Andy. While he was drunk, he mistakenly thought that Andy was drunk with him. After asking his other question, he commented "You're too young to be drinking”. He also commented “you should be ashamed of yourself, drunk and lying in an alley, all wet” “Shame on you”. “I got in a good mood to call the cops”.Because Andy couldn’t say anything, he nodded instead. But still the old man was just just completely dodging the whole situation. The old man’s thinking that Andy is completely wasted. The author wants us to note that we should pay attention to our movements because it could also help out some problems. It made the readers feel insecure and now that they heard of this incident maybe they could be more careful of where they go.
Another memorable idea is that we don’t judge people off what they look like or from what you see. We see that when we see the couple running through the alley and later on they find Andy laying in the sidewalk bleeding heaps. My understanding of this is that me /you /we should never leave any one that looks so in need of help on the sidewalk. The girl in this couple (angela) was not a good example but in reality this could happen to anyone. During that text Angela was not the greatest by saying “I want to go home, freddie. My people will begin to worry” after that she says “Freddie i want to get out of here! Please. This means this couple was misunderstanding him and don't want to help him because they don't want to get into a serious
Te Tiriti O Waitangi
In the 1830 there were 100k Maori and 100-200 Europeans living in New zealand. The behaviour of the whalers, the missionaries desire help to protect Maori rights and muskets war were reasons that a treaty was needed. Declaration of independence was another contributing factor to the need for a treaty.
Around the 1830 the whalers did lawless behaviours for example drank alcohol, spread vires, started fights that caused conflict between Maori and the whalers. This all took place in kororareka and it was not a great place so they called it hell hole. This led to them making a treaty to enable the british settlers and the maori people to live together in new zealand under a common set laws or agreement.
Missionary were people that were cristen people who converted maori to christanaty and helped them when they were losing the land which meant the missionary would gain more followers. This treaty was needed for the promise of peace between Maori and British and to keep everything in lane and not all over the place.
Muskets were introduced when british people wanted to trade with the maori people to get food, flax and other resources, muskets were a weapon to keep them self protected hence why people were dying but on the other hand people were also losing food so that was another way of them dying
